Jings, crivvens......a' this tweed!

‘Oor Wullie’ is a Scottish comic strip published in the D.C. Thomson newspaper ‘The Sunday Post’ since 1937.

It features a character called Wullie. Wullie is a Scot’s nickname for boys named William. His trademarks are spiky hair, dungarees and an upturned bucket.

Anyone of a similar vintage will remember receiving an ‘Oor Wullie’ Annual every second Christmas and having it read from cover to cover before dinner was served!

I have replaced the statue of him outside the McManus Art Gallery in Dundee with my version of the original illustration, to bring his character in to this drawing.
