The textile industry has been a significant part of Scotland and the UK since medieval times, but the advent of the Industrial Revolution brought about a new age of textile manufacturing.
The results of this manufacturing explosion left its mark on many areas and can be attributed to the rise of many towns and cities, particularly in Scotland and the North of England.
With so many mills now having been demolished, I like to take images of old mills and reconstruct them with the patterns and woven textures that may once have been manufactured within their walls during those glory years.
Graphite on paper
20×27cm // 30×40cm with charcoal black mount
Unframed
