Selkirk Town Hall and Sir Walter Scott’s Courtroom is Selkirk’s link to the great Scottish writer.

In this building, Scott sat as Sheriff of Selkirkshire, dispensing justice for nearly 30 years until his death in 1832. The writer was intimately associated with the Borders his whole life, with its landscapes and history inspiring much of his work.
